I am a born Chawala.
What does that mean?
Cha - means Tea in Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Bengali, Gujarati and many other languages.
Wala - The Indian way of addressing a Vendor or a Seller.
So yes, I am a Chawala – A Tea Seller. The Chawala family sold Tea from my great-grand father’s time. The family hails from Burma, the Tea region adjoining Assam and brings the authentic taste of Tea from the lands of evergreen shrubs.
We do make good tea blends. Our customers swear by them. We’ve had customers loyal to us for two to three generations. I, on the other hand, an adopted child but I think that’s just the way you reach the place where you are meant to be, I have tea skills in my veins and the passion to share this legacy in my heart.
Trained by observing the seniors in the Family and at the Indian Institute of Plantation & Management, Bangalore - I introduce to you Chawalas Handcrafted Artisanal Teas.
